One Life One Shot

Meningitis Research Foundation

Meningitis Research Foundation’s insight-driven One Life One Shot campaign aimed to raise awareness and increase uptake of a lifesaving meningitis vaccine (MenACWY) available to teenagers, particularly university freshers. The campaign targeted teenagers directly and via their parents.

Stories of people affected were shared via media, social media and awareness literature, alongside the latest research and data about low uptake of the vaccine and spiralling rates of the more deadly strain of MenW meningitis spreading among teenagers. The campaign was emotive and rich in video content which is known to be a popular format for the target audiences to share on social media.

Partnerships with key stakeholders helped raise awareness and increase uptake.

One Life One Shot proved that you don’t need to spend a fortune to achieve a successful campaign and save lives. The results were unprecedented for Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) in terms of media coverage, video views, social media engagement and awareness raising through literature. Data shows that uptake of the vaccine increased during the campaign period and deaths have been prevented as a result of higher vaccine uptake.
