Jo Hobbs

Jo Hobbs Is the Chief Executive of the British Youth Council, the leading charity empowering young people to use their voice to make a difference in their communities. Jo has dedicated her career to the Children and Youth Voluntary Sector, working in local, regional and national charities. At the British Youth Council Jo has led the team to expand it's reach through new partnerships and deepening existing relationships with stakeholders and funders. As the Operations Director at Girlguiding, Jo led on the charity's service delivery, developing and implementing the non-formal educational curriculum for girls and young women; supporting and developing the cohort of over 100k volunteers; driving membership development to both increase the reach and diversity of membership; ensuring all activity was underpinned by sound safeguarding policies and practices. Jo also led on the international relationships with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), representing Girlguiding at events and conferences at both a European and Global level. Prior to Girlguiding, Jo was the National Development Manager at Chance UK, an award winning mentoring charity for Primary School aged children with behavioural difficulties. Jo led on expanding the reach of the programme through developing partnerships with local and national charities. And as Development Services Manager at London Youth, Jo led the team supporting statutory and voluntary youth clubs across London, transforming the way in which the charity worked with members to support their development and delivery. From her time as a Student Union Officer, Coordinator of a Peer Education sexual health project and even as a Young Leader in Girlguiding, Jo has demonstrated her commitment to and passion for youth participation and engagement.
