Mathew Bose

The Encephalitis Society

Stage and screen actor Mathew Bose became involved with The Encephalitis Society after a close friend was affected by the neurological condition in 2006.
He was formally appointed our first ambassador the following year and has devoted countless hours to raising awareness of encephalitis and supporting us.
Mathew, is well-known for his role as Paul Lambert Emmerdale, and has also featured on screen in Doc Martin and Silent Witness, among many more. He has tread the West End boards with esteemed figures such as Sir Ian McKellen and Vanessa Redgrave.
Whether it is opening doors for us with his network of high-profile contacts, giving up his time to front a national campaign (BBC Radio 4 Appeal 2015), encouraging our members, staff and other ambassadors, Mathew is a dedicated, passionate and loyal Ambassador. He has also generated over £50,000 for our Society in the past ten years. Mathew has been a constant and wise counsel to The Society and its CEO Dr Ava Easton during a time of immense growth and change for the charity.
As a token of our gratitude he was presented with an Exceptional Service Award at our 21st anniversary Masquerade Party last year.
