Lynn Parr

Women's Aid Integrated Services

Lynn is a survivor of domestic abuse - she knows how traumatic and life-changing the experience can be. She says: “Fear was the biggest hurdle. The abuse I suffered at the hands of my husband was physical, mental, sexual and emotional – he even prevented me from attending my only sister’s wedding".

"The first time I used Women's Aid Integrated Services was 19 years ago, the charity arranged safe refuge and gave me a bag full of toiletries, I will always remember the compassionate support I received. I knew one day I would return to Women’s Aid Integrated Services to give back”

Since then Lynn has more than given back. She’s volunteered for two and half years across many of our services, working directly with women and children. Her warm personality and dedication to helping others has touched the lives of hundreds of women and children. She’s now volunteering at one of our refuges and in the last year has helped to support 87 women and children who have arrived with little more than a few bags of belongings and the hope that they will be free from fear and abuse.
