Josh MacAlister

Josh founded Frontline in 2013 with the bold ambition to transform the lives of vulnerable children and families. Since then, he has built the charity from four people to 94. In the last year alone, Josh has overseen employee growth of 67%, yet Josh maintains the same approachability and humility as when his colleagues numbered in the single digits. Josh embodies the values of Frontline, inspiring a culture of freedom, responsibility and collaboration for a common goal.

Josh’s focus on children and families remains resolute. This year, under Josh’s guidance, the charity brought its 1,000th person into children’s social work. Frontline also rose to 28 on The Times Top 100 graduate employers list, demonstrating the shift in attitudes towards social work as a career that Josh set out to create. But Josh’s commitment to vulnerable young people extends beyond the charity itself. Whether joining the advisory board for the Children’s Commissioner and the start-up advisory group for the What Works Centre for Social Care, or working to bring the best possible education to excluded children as a board member of The Difference, Josh has proved beyond doubt that Frontline’s mission is his personal mission.
