George and the Giant Pledge

Despite facing every parent’s worst nightmare, on receiving the news that their then four-year-old son had cancer, the Woodalls took it upon themselves to raise £1,000,000 to Help Beat Childhood Cancer in support of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

With zero marketing budget they set up ‘George and the Giant Pledge’. In a two week period they raised over £100,000, had donations from 26 countries around the world, launched a charity single and were JustGiving’s fastest ever growing international donation page... and that was just the beginning!

Through their organic social media campaign, blogging daily on Facebook and offering bite size content on Twitter, YouTube and Instagram, they shared their harrowing yet heartwarming story cultivating a team of avid Giant Pledge supporters.

They made fundraising accessible actively demonstrating different ways people could help with their time, talent or tenacity as well as with their donations. Every social media post had purpose and inspired people to help beat childhood cancer.

Whilst navigating their youngest son’s cancer treatment they built a hugely successful brand, grew a team of loyal supporters and, with zero budget, raised over £750,000 in 18 months for The Royal Marsden’s paediatric oncology team.
