|Our education system is unfair. Children from poorer homes have fewer options, and fewer opportunities. Despite being one of the most exciting jobs in the world, the UK is facing teacher shortages and it is schools in low-income communities that are likely to suffer the most.
In response to this, Teach First launched a new recruitment campaign ‘Change Career, Change Lives’ in January 2016. As many young professionals remain uncertain about their current careers, Teach First is urging more people to step up to the challenge of teaching, to recognise its value in helping to shape future generations of talent, and to consider the benefits a teaching career can offer in the classroom and beyond.
Campaign highlights include a multi-platform advertising campaign (developed in partnership with TMP Worldwide) featuring a new recruitment film. Coupled to this, a national partnership with Britain’s largest newspaper, magazine and digital publisher, Trinity Mirror, which celebrated the great work of teachers and schools in communities across Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Liverpool and Wales.
The campaign was hugely successful and despite the most competitive recruitment environment for a decade, Teach First received a record number of applicants from career changers.
