A new model to fund the global struggle for LGBTQI rights

Around the world, people face horrendous human rights abuses based on their sexual orientation and gender identity. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) activists and organisations are fighting back and campaigning for change, but they are underfunded, and it is often not easy for individual donors in the UK to provide financial support.

In response, GiveOut, a new UK-based charity, has developed an innovative model to help fund the global struggle for LGBTQI rights. The model enables individual donors to give through a single platform to support a range of activists and organisations working worldwide to improve the lives of LGBTQI people.

Through ongoing research and consultation, GiveOut is identifying where resources are needed most and developing a portfolio of causes for its donors to support. Individuals can donate to GiveOut, tax efficiently, with confidence that their support will have impact across the global LGBTQI movement.

Through regular donations, larger individual gifts and corporate partnerships, GiveOut has fundraised or received pledges of over £250,000 in its first year of operations. And the charity has begun to disperse funds globally, to LGBTQI causes in the Caribbean, Southern Africa and Southeast Asia.
