Volunteering Matters

Volunteering Matters, previously CSV (Community Service Volunteers), rebranded in April 2015. Our motivation was clear, while many knew (and loved) CSV, many more didn’t know who we were – or worse confused us with other charities, the probation service or an American pharmacy chain.

Our impact on the lives of people and their communities through engaging volunteers was proven, and the opportunity to impact more lives was evident. How much more successful could we be if we had a name, a visual identity and a brand that was easily understood by all our stakeholders without further explanation? Volunteering Matters was born! Our ambition of leading UK volunteering in policy and practice was there in the name: ‘volunteering matters to communities and people’ and ‘speak to us about all volunteering matters'.

The transformative nature of volunteering remains at the fore of all our messaging. Our visual identity conveys this with the use of the arrow, giving the sense of moving on – important to many of our programmes and interventions.

One year on volunteer numbers are up, beneficiaries numbers are up (+36%). Staff love the new name, and stakeholders understand what we do. All good, as Volunteering (really) Matters to us.
