Surfers Against Sewage

Surfers Against Sewage is a national marine conservation and campaigning charity that inspires, unites and empowers communities to take action to protect oceans, beaches, waves and wildlife.

Together, we’re much more than our name suggests. We’ve made great progress protecting the coast from sewage and now work on other issues too – climate change, water quality, coastal development and plastic pollution.

As a small team based in Cornwall, we are faced with the challenge of having a legitimate presence throughout the UK. Our incredible 155-strong Regional Reps Programme is the cornerstone of our organisation, ensuring we have passionate and well-trained individuals in communities up and down the country.

Our Reps organise beach cleans, lead Plastic Free Communities, deliver education talks, identify and support local campaigns, work on SAS’s national projects and have even appeared on national television as spokespersons for the charity.
