Sophie Andrews

The Silver Line

Sophie Andrews was the first employee of The Silver Line and her first Chief Executive role. She was tasked to launch a pilot of the proposed helpline and friendship service for older people within 3 months. The pilot was evaluated and deemed so successful it became the basis of a Big Lottery grant of £5 million over 2 years which enabled her to build a team to launch The Silver Line Helpline nationally in November 2013. Sophie was the former Chair of Samaritans and she grasped Esther Rantzen’s vision of The Silver Line Helpline and delivered it as a reality.
