Penningtons Manches

Our Charities team was formed in April 2016, with a clear goal from the outset to provide a straightforward and common-sense service, combined with a deep understanding of our clients’ charitable motivation and priorities.
We have been instructed by over half of the Oxbridge Colleges, universities, schools, charitable trusts, grant making bodies, royal charter bodies and many smaller charities and start-ups. The team has won work from 17 of the UK’s top 25 charities (by legacy income) in its first 12 months.
We commissioned a survey last month (developed with input from the ILM, STEP and the Law Society) to explore the nature of the relationship between probate professionals and charity legacy teams, and to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. The results will enable us to drive forward dialogue between both groups, and with regulatory bodies and member associations in both sectors, with the aim of bringing about positive and ongoing change.

The establishment of the Penningtons Manches Charitable Foundation, has enabled us to bring structure and focus to the firm’s existing charitable giving and pro bono work, both locally and firm-wide. The Foundation prioritises a core project every year, with the first being human trafficking and modern slavery.
