Mel Merrill has developed in collaboration with other teams, external partners and volunteers a Macmillan Volunteering Quality Standards to raise volunteer management performance with all who are involving volunteers across Macmillan and with our service partners. She has done this using her existing expertise; taking learning opportunities to develop herself; and cooperating with others, including empowering her team based across the UK. The result has been an enthusiastic take-up of the standards, supported by tools developed for the volunteer managers and will enable us to benchmark our volunteer management and prioritise the development of resources to support any identified gaps.
